One of our favorite time to enjoy Okinawa is in the sunset.
Most people visit Okinawa for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear blue ocean. But some of the island's most unforgettable moments happen just before sunset.
As the sun begins to set, the golden evening light brings out the beauty of Ryuso, the traditional Okinawan kimono, making it the perfect time for a leisurely stroll through Okinawa or unforgettable photos.
Start in Kitanakagusuku
Begin your experience at OKINAWA KIMONO家(ke=house) in the peaceful village of Kitanakagusuku.
Surrounded by old stone walls, traditional Okinawan houses, and lush greenery, it's the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a quieter side of Okinawa.
You can visit nearby photo spots such as Nakamura House, an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and Nakagusuku Castle Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site overlooking the ocean.
After exploring the village, we recommend taking a short drive to Chatan.
End the Day at American Village
Chatan is only about 20–30 minutes from our shop.
Spend the evening strolling around American Village, watching the sunset over Okinawa's west coast, and capturing beautiful photos in the warm golden light.
By early evening, the heat has eased, making it the perfect time to stroll through American Village and enjoy the sunset.
Weekend Fireworks
If you're visiting on a Saturday (and Fridays during the summer holiday season), don't miss the fireworks launched from the waterfront near the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort at 8:00 PM.
In summer, Okinawa's sunsets are late enough that you can enjoy both the sunset and the fireworks in one evening—a perfect way to end your day.
Sunset Ryuso Experience
Because sunset times change throughout the year, we recommend contacting us in advance if you'd like to enjoy an evening Ryuso experience. We'll be happy to suggest the best timing for your visit.
After-hours appointments are available for an additional fee of ¥3,300 per hour.
